Mariona Mateu Carles studied Double Bass and Violone (historically informed performance) in Barcelona, Munich and Frankfurt. Her bass and chamber music playing is influenced specially by Kristin von der Goltz, Xavier Puertas, Andrew Ackerman, Dane Roberts, Lorenzo Coppola, Heinrich Braun, Jonathan Brown and the Quartet Casals.

As a chamber music player she won the Händel International Competition Göttingen (Ensemble Caladrius), the Kammermusikwettbewerb der Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt (Le Concert dans l'oeuf) and was chosen to participate in the programs for young ensembles "Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junge Künstler" (Germany) and "Eeemerging+" (European Union). Lately she created the Ensemble Das Kolorit.

At the moment she collaborates with the Freiburger Barockorchester, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Le Concert des Nations (Savall), the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and the Münchner Kammerorchester among othere and she is Solo Doublebass at the Basel Sinfonietta.
